Comment on Maria's Blog

My classmate Maria made a blog with the name of "Climate Change or Not ? : Part II." In the blog Maria explains how Trump's executive order on climate change, and how it has changed her mindset towards Trumps executive order. She mentioned an article with the name of "What Trump's executive order on climate change means for the world”. I like how she added this article it shows that she has facts of what she is talking about. Furthermore, Maria said that she understands Trump's decision towards climate change. But also she thought that Trump wanted to decrease air pollution, but that was false. In my personal opinion I liked how she showed evidence of what she was talking about and I also like how she was connecting with the reader by giving her own opinion. I honestly wouldn’t change anything for what she wrote.

Mining Health Care

On April 27th, 2017 an article named Coal Mine Reality for President Trump which was by The Editorial Board. This article was published in The New York Times. The main focus that "Coal Mine Reality for President Trump" is the health care that will be cut of for the people that work for the mining industry. A democrat from Virginia interviewed President Trump about the mining problems and Trump just stated “ Tell them I’m doing everything I can,” this makes the mining industry to have hope for their problems to be removed. However, in he article it stated that there is miners that will not receive any heath care. This makes the citizens imply that there is nothing being done for these miners. They have black lungs and other diseases and there is nothing to do for them for their hard work, and they repay them with no health care. In my opinion I do not agree with these terms nor do I approve of what our president is doing to solve this, "Tell them I'm doing everything I can," is not a solution. Action is what solves these types of problems. Coal mining helps this country and we have to help the hard working people that work for the mining industries with health care.

Comment on Maria Blog

On my colleagues article "Climate Change or Not?" she was commenting on a article published by CNN named "Trump dramatically changes U.S approach to climate change".  In Maria's blog states information about Trump's order to decrease the amount of pollution in our air without people losing their jobs. I agree with the decrease of the amount of pollution that is in our economy because as a human I need clean air. We as a community need to survive we need clean air for ourselves; for my family, and my future family. I also agree with that fact that Trump is trying to do a good thing in the economy without affecting anyone with their job employment. We as citizens need jobs to keep on paying for our bills and to take care of our families. I liked how Maria said "best way to protect the environment is to have a strong economy." This implies that we need to be united to have  clean air because united is what makes us strong. I agree with everything that Maria had to say on her article. However, I would suggest to add more information about what World Resources Institute, has to say about president Trump.

Online Attacks

On March 30th, 2017 an article titled Republicans Attack Internet Privacy. The article was published to The New York Times by The Editorial Board. This article mainly focuses their argument towards how "Republicans" are taking the communities online privacy of Americans by letting companies like Verizon and Comcast sell advertisers the internet browsing histories and other personal data. Also, the customers are not aware of what history and data are being checked by the government. The Republicans Attack Internet Privacy article wanted to send out a message for those who own a cellular device in the U.S. Most people here in the U.S. do not agree of being stalked for their internet history by the government. Mostly everyone is an owner of a phone which is why this should be a problem for everyone. It is a problem because everyone needs privacy from time to time, no one should feel like they are being watched.  I believe that this fuss should not be allowed because everyone needs privacy, and now because of this, people wont have privacy on their phones. I understand that the government checks phones for any illegal intentions that are being planned, but the citizens who have no criminal record should not feel like a criminal being watched. In my conclusion, anyone with criminal record should be stalked by the government, not the people with no criminal background. We as citizens with clean records should not have the feeling of being watched by anyone, especially the government.

Immigrants are not all the same

On Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 The New York Times published an article titled Secretary Kelly Is Missing in Action on Immigration by The Editorial Board. In this article the intention audience is the people that are against deportation. Also it is more towards defending the rights of the immigrants to stay and work here in the United States that are being blamed for what other immigrants do (smuggling drugs in to the US). This article implies that by letting the reader know that boarder patrol will cost a lot of money to the government. However, it has been argued that they want to spend this type of money on boarder patrol caused because of these drug smugglers. Furthermore, The Editorial Board defend the immigrants by stating that immigrants that actually are working and doing things right are being taken away by ICE because of what other immigrants are doing which is wrong(drug smuggling). The Editorial Board wants the readers to know that it is wrong to blame all the immigrants for what some immigrants are doing. Not all immigrants are the same. I agree with what the board has to say about equality of immigrants. The Editorial Board shows credibility in this article by being a part of The New York Times, they have knowledge to their article because if they didn't their article wouldn't be published. In conclusion, in my opinion and The Editorial Board immigrants are not all the same, they should not all be punished for what some immigrants do illegally.

Uncleared Immigration

In USA Today an article published on Feb. 24, 2017 named "Trump's quick deportation plan may be illegal, past immigration chiefs say" written by Alan Gomez states an argument of immigration deportation. In the article Alan says, "It's unclear how many people could be deported immediately under Trump's plan." He implies that the rapid deportation that is going on right now in our society is unsettled. However, the deportation is clear in other articles that I found. The deportation that is going on right now is done by ICE. It is mentioned in an article from Los Angeles Times named "ICE says L.A. immigration arrests were planned long in advance, not tied to new crackdown" which was written on Feb. 10th 2017 by James Queally. He states, " The arrests, which officials have described as routine and not part of a crackdown promised by President Trump, have sparked fear and anger in immigrant communities." His statement proves that Trump did not have nothing to do with the immigration arrests but it is clear that the ICE is responsible for it. Alan published his article on Feb 24th 2017, stating that deportation was unclear, while there was an article published on Feb 10th 2017 by James that stated what was going on with the deportations. In conclusion, Alan the reporter for USA Today argued about the unclear deportations under trumps plan although James the reporter from Los Angeles Times clearly stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement were the reason for the arrests/deportations.

An unwakeable nightmare

On Friday, February 10th, 2017 the Los Angeles Times published an article named ICE says L.A. immigration arrests were planned long in advance, not tied to new crackdown. In this article James Queally describes what is going on in Los Angeles, California. Furthermore, this article is worth reading because it talks about how all of these arrest going on right now weren't because of President Donald Trump. The ICE was planing these arrest even before trump took office. Immigrants are afraid of getting arrested. However, a director of Enforcement and Removal Operations said that the people getting arrested have criminal background. In the other hand, a young woman almost lost her father because of these arrest. The father did not have any criminal background. In Los Angeles the fears of the Trump administration has stoked among immigrant communities throughout the state.
